UNC State Quarter Roll Value questions?

tneigtneig Posts: 1,505 ✭✭✭
Picked up some mint rolls the other day. I realized the value generally is not much over cost. I got three five roll boxes of mint rolls. I mixed and matched to get paired P&D sets.

Noticed the prices on ebay varies a great deal. Most of the auctions don't sell, and a lot are for very little over the face value.

-Is this because of the abundance of State Quarters?
-I did see a few P&D state sets with an unusually high price (is that a fluke, or are some very valuable?)

Unless you have a B&M store setting I would value the coins at face.

It's because the State Quarters Series is no longer in the Limelight and those that collected them, already have more than they need.

Of course there's a smattering of buyers but generally speaking the market for these is just over.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Ah, I get your both replies. Thanks much.

I'll just enjoy the ones I have. I want more, but hardly needed a roll of each.
I didn't have to pay tax/shipping, so i took a chance at $65 for a box of 5 rolls (x3), and I was able to get some matched sets, so I feel it was ok.

(I guess the $300 price for a set on ebay, with bids! is a fluke or something special I missed in the description. )

eBay prices just above roll value == normal.

    Q1: yes
Q2: barring a graded coin in a high grade, prices for these will be at or near face value. If not, it's a hopefully seller or unknowledgable buyer, or both.

You can keep them around until you are good at grading them, then look through them for better examples. The rest you spend or give to kids who will appreciate them.

Does anyone know where these coins could actually be sold at this price? I usually have 5-10 rolls of each coin, and I would like to make at least some profit.
