Auction makes a point about the first strike/ER eligibility. Blog sounds like there's more floating around too.

Wonder how much this will go for, and how fast it will wind up being sent in for grading??

It may be a good point, but there's no way that either NGC or PCGS will "start the clock" as this was obviously an accidental release. But this coin should be eligible for FFS (First-First Strike)! image

  • I normally don't care about all these moderns but this is rather intriguing. If sent to PCGS what would happen? Would they refuse to grade it?

I think it needs a special label "super-duper" first strike. Maybe NGC could call if "pre release". Anyway, a nice surprise for a few people.

I wonder if these sets will have a premium similar to the no "S" proof sets....after all these are "mint errors"

I guess someone got lucky with an accidental silver coin release. It is not supposed to be silver.

The set contains proof quality versions of the Kennedy half-dollar coin, the first America the Beautiful Quarters® coin released this year, the Roosevelt dime coin, the Jefferson 5-cent coin and the Lincoln one-cent coin. All coins bear the "S" mint mark of the United States Mint at San Francisco.

This is one of those who cares.

In June it'll be just one of about 4 million out there.

PCGS and NGC work off official release dates, not mint shipping errors.

  • The folks over at the Mint News Blog report that it is not a unique case. Still, the sets aren't cheap enough for me to take the chance.

I predict that coin will go for moon money. The seller is leaving money on the table not having PCGS or NGC slabbing it with a special label.

Assuming they would give it a special label

    Would they?

I am pretty sure NGC would slab it with a special label. A call to their toll free numbers would answer that question.image

NGC has some sort of instructions up on there site but it says must be received in sealed packaging, are these wrapped in cellophane? image

<< <i>Well, it's now currently in for grading with our hostimage >>

Maybe it will have a "Pre First Strike" label on it image
