I noticed that I had a 1974-S Proof Roosevelt Dime in my pocket the other day. I'm guessing I got it in change from a local coin shop over the weekend though Still thought it was neat.
i grabed a roll from the box to spend that night. i always take a quick look for varities/silver before heading out the door usually - nothing special but not that day, plus nice condition too !! Hey you never know ..whats in them rolls
. found plenty of kennedy halves in rolls, been a while since i searched though. few statehood quarters, many many foreign proofs in foreign 10-20 pound bags, including a surprisingly high amount of better-date stuff along with a lot of premium foreign silver. less than half a dozen cents/nickels from raw change/trays . nothing much of any premium if memory serves . that proof morgan is unmistakable for sure.
i could have missed that indian cent though, i need to work on those apparently .
Many searching rolls - mostly halves including a bunch of silver proofs. I just toss the clad back after filling a folder with them. I did get a silver dime once. I've also gotten quite a few silver Ikes just asking at banks.
I had a run of boxes of halves last week that were loaded with proofs and silver. Best proofs were a AH Kennedy and a 96 silver proof. Was nice to get some nice boxes after a run of skunks. Must have been 30 proof halves. I usually just spend them at places where cashiers have said they like getting the "weird" coins from me.
I have pulled over 100 proof Kennedy halves from roll searching including five 1970-S and four bicentennial silver halves, i know they aren't proof but I've also pulled four 1970-D halves from rolls too.
I have found several proof coins in change, but my two favorite experiences were finding proof quarters in coin dealers' circulation strike supply of quarters. The first one was a mishandled proof. It was well preserved but had picked up light scratches. I pointed it out to the dealer. He pulled it out and raised the price.
The second one was a well circulated 1952 proof. I bought it and later wondered why there was no "ES" gap in "STATES". It turned out it was a class III doubled die from types A and B hubs. Experts have told me that later die stages of the same die had an "ES" gap. Also it turns out that there was more than one doubled die for that year.
Apparently I just found a proof Morgan in the wild in my own collection, thanks to a thread about impaired proof Morgan dollars. This is just as I was adding it to a bullion deal to go on the BST.
While I have only found 2 proofs in circulation, one being a Jefferson the other being a Washie, I have put over $100 in proof coinage of various years/denominations into circulation via vending machines.
I have also put some well worn Buffs, and Lib Nicks out thru vending machines too.
As we speak,I just found a Proof 2002 Lincoln Cent in my local Starbucks,I know it's just a common Linc.Proof, but still. Amazing!!! The only thing is I had the manager dig out anymore in the cent tray ( the manager is cool and knows me well) but to no avail. Oh well, still amazing! Pretty interesting for my 1500 post too. -joey

<< <i>I just Coinstar'ed 40 2007 proof Presidential dollars. What I could get for them on eBay wasn't worth the hassle. >>
Wow, that was a money losing venture of 83.20 from 2007 if they were bought as a Pres Set at 14.95 and the coinstar charge you wanted

About a year ago, I found a silver proof state quarter in the toll machine. That's been my first and only proof find from circulation.

Didn't find any silver, but did find a circ proof 1985S Kennedy...
