Take Cub Scouts to a Coin Show?

I'm the Den leader for my son's Cub Scout den.... all 1st Graders. Was considering asking the parents if they would like to attend the next Wespnex show on Apr 14th. I know they usually have a nice YN program each show the boys would enjoy. I keep wondering how the dealers or promoter would react... good or bad. I tried calling the contact in the back of CW but got a recorded message saying the person was unavailable.

Any thoughts?

  • When I was a kid I tried to get my history teacher, who had the same local B&M dealer I did, to get the dealer to come in to talk to my history class. Did not fly very well. But then, I remember when numerical grading came out and my teachers 38-D GEM BU 50C was not a 65......my teacher had bought coins every week with his paper route money - always GEM BU. I suspect most were 63...64 at best. "That numerical stuff won't last long, believe me" - yup image that was as good as "But Eric, it's just a 1947 25C, who cares if it is a 67 - you are wasting your money" - Okie Dokie image

Edited to add - If all are aboard with pack of Scouts, it's a superb idea!!!!!
