Iran / Persia - Tokens and Commemorative Medals

Dear All,

I am a beginner in collecting medals and tokens of Iran ( Persia ). I was told by a professional that may find such items by communicating with the members on collectors' forums.

Well, I would appreciate if you let me know whether you may have Iranian ( Persian ) medals and tokens for sale or know of anyone who is dealing with such items.

I'm just trying to gradually find my way in knowing the professionals in this field.

Thanks

  • What era are you seeking to collect: Ancient Sassanian/Zoarastrian or more recent?
  • I'm a beginner in medals and looking for recent (1900 and newer) ones. However, there are a few interesting medals of Qajar (18th century) dynasty that I'm willing to buy at right price.

I'd rather to stay away from older ones till gaining proper experience in this field.

    thanks

I don't know any specialists in Iranian coins/exonumia, but VCoins seems to have a few. Canmoose Coins comes to mind, though I've never done business with them.

I've had this medal in my VCoins wishlist for a while but never really got around to buying it (nor would I be offended if you decided to). I do not personally collect Persian coins or medals but I was raised in the Baha'i Faith, so there is a historical tie-in. 19th century Persian coins and medals with portraits of the early persecutors of the Baha'is (like Nasir-al-Din Shah) are interesting to me, and I've given a few such items as gifts to Baha'i family members. (Got my mother a gold toman from the birthyear of Baha'u'llah and had it mounted in a really nice display stand.)

There are a few here, though most of them seem to have been sold. But there is a starting point for you, anyway- perhaps you should contact that dealer.

  • Dear lordmarcovan,

Thanks a lot for the thoughts. I have been watching VCoins over past few months and bought a few Iranian items too.

Well, I'm interested image in buying the Nasser Ed Din Shah non-gold medals as well. Some of them are really beautiful.

    Cheers
