Odd(?) Error on '55 P Wheatie?

I recently purchased a large bag of wheat cents at a local auction house and discovered a red bu 1955 P with what appears to me to be a planchet error.
The motto at the top of the obverse has only the word "IN" and the words "God We Trust" are missing.
I've studied the coin under 60 power and can find no trace of grinding, but the planchet itself appears to be thinner at that point.
Assuming this is a mint error, does this coin have any significant value?
Thanks, I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

Sounds like a Tapered Planchet, which is somewhat common for the date. Quite a few 55DDOs are even seen with it.

  • Thanks much for the response. I had hoped I finally hit a HR with something, but from what you say, this apparently has no added value..
