Say it isn't so! I never want to fill a hole with a less than desirable coin. Although I just did it last fall and was able to UPGRADE it to TOP POP just last week...so it turned out just fine.

Coins are coins and for some people the desire for completeness is greater than the absolute quality need. When you deal in a rare niche like some of us do you have to take what you can get and when a better one comes along then you upgrade, while this isn't the best method to maximize your profits it is an enjoyable way to collect. Besides, I would bet you the majority of people on this board who decry compromise have plenty of less than ideal coins in their collections. A UNC details Barber quarter with an old photo cert is a cool coin, well done.
