76 Cello with payton on top

This cello sold for $830.00 a few weeks ago and now the seller has it back up for sale. The new auction states that the winner could not come up with the money to pay for it.
Was there any discussion here about this cello? Does it look legit? Obviously, my concern is that it is not holdered.

Hi, not sure if it was discussed here or not.

I don't like this sellers feedback.

    Did you toolhaus him?

I'm sure one of the pack guys will arrive shortly......

    Good for you.

I had asked several of the pack experts about this pack and they seem to think it is authentic.

However, I did not like his feedback or his price. I saw a PSA 9 sell for 700.00 via ebay the past 90 days or so and thought it was a much better pack( I put in a bid of 600.00 on that pack and wished I had bought it for the 700.00).

I am going to wait on Jose to list another one and go after that one.

  • why would you not get that thing graded before selling... Seems like a no brainer for both the buyer and seller.

Did you see this sentence in the item description?

This has the potential to grade well above a 9 there's no doubt about it.
No doubt about it? How much higher than a "9" could it grade? 15? 20?

the pack actually looks legit. But with the $$ it may command you are better off buying a slabbed one--IMO. If there is a tear in this one the grade would be lowered significantly, thereby not justifying a big price

After looking at his history, I think there is a good chance he won't actually ship the cello to the buyer...

It has the rare Nigel Tufnel on the bottom. It will therefore surely grade out as an 11.

I don't like that 4th picture that there appears to be clear separation from the cards to the cello.

these things are wrapped so tightly, just seemed a little odd to me. everything else looks good on it, i'm guessing its real, but without being in a slab theres enough Qs for me to avoid.

Shu4040 is correct. In two of the pictures there is an inordinate amount of slack in the cellophane which is not consistent with a factory-tight cello wrap. Of course there are the occassional legit '70s era cellos with loose cellophane but because this particular cello has "the" card on top such a coincidence should warrant a red flag!
