Tall Boy Basketball Holder Question

Just curious if anyone may have an idea why the holders for these cards are so big, it makes it undesirable to collect certain sets that are actually really nice due to these cumbersome holders. YES, I understand the cards are odd shaped and do not fit the standard holders but this is 2012 . . . shouldn't it be better? It's sorta like buying a size 3 pair of shoes and the associate putting them in a size 16 box. Am I the only one that thinks this way?

  • I think I read once that developing the holder costs somewhere in the vicinity of $100k, how true that is or not I can't attest.

I think some of the holders are ridiculous but I think the holders on the Tall boys are fine, the card fits snugly and isn't put in a pack holder like some GU cards.

even though the holders are bulky and demand a strong bodybuilders frame to squat and lift them, i like the extra protection they offer my cards with a wide surrounding surface.....i think a reduction in holder width to more evenly comply with the size of a Tall Boy card would also compromise the integrity of the holder allowing more potential for damage to the card if it were dropped or unnaturally flexed.

    1960toppsguy,
I completely agree with you. When I sent in my 1st tall boy sub about 6 years ago....when they came back my wife was laughing at them...saying "What are you going to do with them?" I still don't know how to answer the question. They're just too big.image
