Out of curiosity, I looked at the 1951 Bowman set to see how many PSA 9's were floating out there somewhere (versus being locked up in the top 5 listed sets). The competition is pretty fierce. Out of a total of 351 unqualified PSA 9's, 222 of them were in those sets. I started to go blind trying to count them, but here's what I came up with:
Merkel - 106!!!! PSA 9's
Branca - 49 PSA 9's and 3 PSA 10's (out of 7 ever graded)
Fogel - 26 PSA 9's
Vargha - 33 PSA 9's
Davalillo - 8 PSA 9's
It ain't gonna be easy . . .

PS I miss the Mariners "faces". Real scary sometimes to open a thread and see Garcia's head, etc. Always tried to guess which "face" would come next and then no more......
I don't know how you do it. That has got to be a bear trying to beat the bushes for high end material. Good luck and maybe you'll get that call from Merkel one day! "I'm done - I can't do this anymore. Make me an offer on my set and I'm out..."
Sets - 1970, 1971 and 1972
Always looking for 1972 O-PEE-CHEE Baseball in PSA 9 or 10!
