Barring snag...Peyton to Denver...says sources

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7709195/barring-snag-peyton-manning-picks-denver-broncos-sources-say

Peyton Manning will become the next quarterback of the Denver Broncos, barring a snag during intensified contract negotiations that have commenced under the instruction of the four-time MVP to his agent Tom Condon, according to multiple sources.

Once the Manning deal becomes official, Denver will try to trade Tim Tebow, according to sources.

I believe Jacksonville is the logical landing point for Tebow. He has a built in fan base there, and it isn't like they have a quarterback there that has a sterling reputation that he would have to unseat.

I'm pretty sure Tebow needs to come back to Earth before he goes to Jacksonville.
  • Thank goodness he didn't go to Tenn.

Mannings SP Authentic RC, at least in Gem Mint, are starting to sell at a 20%-40% premium from just a few weeks ago. Bronco fan is happy.

The Denver Nuggets should consider signing Tebow as a point-guard. I'm not sure if he has a jump-shot, but he's already a master of the bounce-pass.

Tebow is a class act, wish him success at his next gig
  • Dear God,

I know you and Sir Tebow orchestrated numerous miracle comebacks last year. I have one "miracle" request for you though. DO NOT SEND TOBOW TO CLEVELAND.

    Thank You

I think the most interesting side story is of the teams Manning DIDNT sign with.

Honestly, if you are Alex Smith or Matt Hasselbeck, are you excited now?

From a Titans fans standpoint...yes, I would have loved to have Manning, but honestly, with the added cap room, we can sign what we needed most, which is lineman to block for Chris Johnson, which I think was a huge issue last year. The only downside is that we have a dictator as owner and a puppet as coach and that means another year of Matt Hasselsuck as QB

Similar to the Prayer that all Raiders Fans were saying every night: "Please Oh Great One, have the Heart to keep Tebow in Denver so that we Fans (Raider) can be assured that somebody's Football Hell is worse than ours!!"

The NFL sure could use a lot more guys like Tim Tebow. Guys that authentic, committed to helping the disadvantaged, with that level of good sportsmanship are harder than ever to find. Wherever he goes, that franchise will be a lot richer with him.
  • I could be wrong but didn't Alex Smith go interviewing BEFORE SF interviewed Manning? Regardless, Manning being available is a huge opportunity so I see nothing wrong with looking into it and making an offer if you can get him. If Smith was putting up the numbers that Manning was then he has something to complain about but otherwise...

Also... what's wrong with Tebow staying in Denver as their backup?

Tebow could obviously learn a lot from Manning but I think his potential trade value means more to Denver right now, I look for him to head to Jacksonville

Smith got a 3 year offer from the 49ers early last week. With the offer on the table, the 49ers checked out Manning, and Smith decided to go talk to Miami.

That 3 year offer is still on the table.

I for one think Tebow will land with Miami. Jacksonville seems like a likely landing spot but they have Gabbert. Miami has NO QB. They need a face of the franchise, someone to get the fan base excited and get fans in the seat.

Excellent news for the Chiefs and the other teams in the division. Denver gets an injured, washed up QB with no mobility left that defenses can zero in on.

This will end up being a terrible signing for the Broncos.

Everyone makes such a huge deal about how bad of a thrower Tebow has been, yet no one seems to take into consideration how bad Steve Young and John Elway were in their first couple of years under QB. I think if Tebow can get his mechanics down he could have a HOF type career. He has certain apects of his game that you can't learn, passion, heart, and will to win.

    Morning,

No wiser words have been spoken on this.................As a Real Raider fan, I do not see this as a real problem. Manning MAY have some success for a year or two but then they (The Broncos) will have mortaged their future for years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great points of course, but many in the sports world, including lots of folks on this board, are incapable of separating their anger/cynicism at Tebow's displays of faith from his abilities as an NFL quarterback. It's a shame, but that's the way it is.

oxygen. gonna be a hot topic real soon......the ESPN, NBC & CBS guys are all gonna need it muchly, while carving out new temporary Colorado lifestyles.....FOX, too, for those pumped up mixed conference battles.....

so, late in the 2012 NFL season, there should be plenty of demand for trips to Florida to see God's messenger of winning OT scores. image

Passion, heart, and will to win mean nothing when a QB drops back to throw the ball. Most NFL players already have that anyway, and that's why they are among the tiny percentage of football players to make it all the way to the NFL. Like you admit, he's a poor thrower. He certainly might improve, but not every QB does.

If Kyle Orton or Jay Cutler had the passion and fire of Tim Tebow they'd be HOF's, they have all the skill anyone could ask for but neither seem to have much leadership ability. Leadership is WAY under rated
  • GB5HOFGB5HOF Posts: 590
Fan perceived passion is WAY overrated....

Didn't Cutler get the Bears to th NFC Championship 2 years ago? I'm pretty sure he had the Bears rolling last season prior to his injury.

That being said...passion and desire only go so far. Ask any washed up former High School star. Talent and physicality takes over at some point. There's a reason why you can name only about 10 players to play in the NBA that were/are under 6 feet tall.

Cutler's leadership can't be all that bad. He's 19-8 in his last 27 starts. Or, maybe that shows that leadership isn't all that important.

Don't even get me started on that wuss.....................Gets a Hang Nail and wimps out of the Championship........Coach talked about me bad, I want to get traded WAAAAHHHH WAAHH !!! He'll never be anything but a wuss in my book.....If only Hainey would have thrown one more touchdown and won that Game, that's a story we'd still be talking about !!!!!!!

As I Lions fan....I was not sad to see him get hurt. They would've taken our playoff spot had Cutler been healthy.
