Message to ebay buyer to harsh or to soft?

I was wondering if I could get some advice. I sold my first item on ebay a week ago today and have still not received payment. I sent invoices throughout the week and never heard a thing from the buyer, so I sent a message to the buyer today inquiring his thoughts about when he intended to pay. The message I sent the buyer is below. I was just curious if I need to be more patient or if I don't hear anything do you think I should start non payer process and if I should have worded the message a little different. Any advice would be appreciated, as this was my first sell and I encountered this issue right of the bat.

Hello

I am just inquiring as to when I could expect payment for the card that you purchased. It has been several days since the end of the auction and I have not heard from you. If you need a few days I could give it but I would like to know what your thought process is concerning when you would like to pay for the card. Thank you.

Honestly, I usually never send a personal message...I send a payment reminder via ebay and if he doesnt pay within the given time file a FVF refund request.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • Bet it was a cheap card also. The .99 centers always seem to drag their feet.

Nope. Ended at $35. It was a T206.

What I generally do is send one invoice after the auction ends regardless if ebay did too.

After that I wait 10 days and on that 10th day, through ebay I simply ask the buyewr

if he/she still wants the card. I tell them it's no big deal but I'd appreciate an answer as

I'd like to get my FVF back.

Usually that evening I'll get a reply and my money.

    Good for you.

Honestly, if i have no payment or communication from the buyer after 7 days i just open a case with ebay. For some reason i usually get a payment very soon after.......not looking to be a jerk, just want to be paid or need to relist said item. Most of the time 7 days is very reasonable.

When I am waiting for payment, I usually send a message asking them for their address so that I can ship out their item. I know i can get the address from paypal and I don't ship until i receive payment but this usually serves as a subtle reminder that they need to pay. It works for me everytime.

  • just move on and relist the item... file the FVF request and just move on... not worth trying to track down the buyer if he is not responding.

  • do a quick search on ebay or ebay over seas, sometimes they will buy them then use your photo and relist it with a high buy it now in hopes of making a few more frog skins than they paid for it, if it doesnt sell then they dont send any money and your stuck doing all the filing,, sounds crazy but it happens
