ND vs XU

If I was Catholic, who would I be obligated to root for? Xavier or Notre Dame?
On one hand, ND was founded in 1842, and I had a cool ND hockey hat when I was in college, but on the other hand XU is in Ohio, and was founded in 1831. I probably have the same amount of friends that attended both schools. So what is more imprtant, my cool hat or the ND tradition? BTW right now it is 59-58 XU with 2:48 left
