Well, BaltimoreYankee just picked his jaw up off the floor.

I read River Ave Blues every morning. This came a little later. Wow.

The time off may have done him more good, than harm. Time has a way of healing stuff. image

    ????

They aren't even the best team in that division, let alone the American League. I think taking the kids to school, honey-do lists, and the like got on his nerves.

    Hi Steve,

With that team, I'd see 10 wins out of you. image

The real question is does this retard the progress of MLB ready arms like Pineda and Hughes, assuming one gets moved to the pen or minors?

    Let's for conversation's sake say it's Hughes...

If Hughes is truly in the shape of his life and at such a young age is poised to finally become a top tier starter, how can he be dumped in the pen-- regardless of prior success there?
How will they even know what they have in a healthy and now-experienced/mature Hughes if they put him to pasture in the pen?

They'd never move a young arm like Phil, Pineda (for whom they just traded a stud young bat), or Nova to make room for a 40 yr old, so it definitely presents a logjam in the short term. Good problem to have, for sure, though.

matthew - Who is the best team in the AL East? Can't be the Red Sox, they didn't even make the playoffs either of the past 2 seasons. Tampa Bay? They finished 6 full games behind NY last year. The Yankees were the best in the Divison last season and really improved on the starting pitching end over the off season.
