Golf Outting with Mike Ditka- suggestions appreciated

Hello all,

I am on a volunteer committee for Junior Achievement's, an organization that helps teach economic literacy to children, and I just found out the at our annual golf outting this year Mike Ditka will be participating as our celebrity guest. With my interest in cards and collectibles I have been asked to help with items for the auction. My question to all of you is what type of items do you think would go well at our auction to help raise money for the organization. I am hoping that I can figure out a way to get a couple mini helmets from a local store for Ditka to sign but is there anything else that you guys think would go over well?

PS, my budget from the organization is pretty close to $0. I am going to contribute some items from my personal collection but otherwise I will be going around to businesses to ask for donated items to have signed.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

    Ricky Williams' wedding dress.

just kidding and best of luck.

Most of the auctions at golf events that I attend seem that ball game tickets and foursomes to golf courses seem to bring out the most cash.

8x10s would be cheap, if you are hitting up businesses, maybe hats to get signed?
  • Thanks for the feedback and ideas.

I would get 8x10's and 11x14's if you have a very small budget. If you need any images of Ditka please send me a pm. Also, the Walmart Wilson Super Grip footballs look great signed and cost about half the price as a mini helmet.
  • i would go with 8x10 photos and cards. See if he will sign some unique inscriptions on them. I would even make your own little coa cards to print out with items and charity name on them.

I love Coach Ditka....but ask him "Why the heck did he give the ball to Fridge at the Super Bowl on the goal line". That's probably the only moment of Payton's career that seems junky.
  • Contact Steiner Sports, they will donate an item for events like this.

    All of the above.

Also, go by a sporting goods store and ask if they would donate some balls and/or helmets.

    Good luck.
