Buying from 4SC for the first time....

Is there anything i need to be aware of? Seems like their prices are pretty fair for what i'm looking for. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for your help,

Adam

Patience with the shipping time if it is a big order. I have bought several cards individually and got them fairly quick. Then a few weeks ago I bought several cards and it took almost 2 1/2 weeks to get. Also communication is non existent.

    Working on the following sets
1980's and 1990's Topps Baseball BBCE FASC - Cello or Wax Boxes
1952 Bowman US Presidents PSA 7 & up
Pro Football Hall of Fame Indianapolis Colts PSA Registry Set
June 9th Cubs full ticket or stubs - 1981 to 2020
Andre Dawson Topps Basic registry PSA 10's
Mark Grace Topps Basic registry PSA 10's

  • Be prepared to get lower grade cards with higher grade flips.

Some of the cards Ive busted out for my raws sets are not worthy of the stated grades and surely not worthy of my sets. Its not always the case and I have gotten some nicer cards as well, but I get tried of the gamble. Not as big a deal if your keeping them in the slab. But many I have cracked would never get the same grade again If I resubbed it.

I also think they know which ones are overgraded and thus the cheaper prices on them. There is a widely known therory that they get "prefered" servive from psa.

Some argue that it only seems that way because of the volume of cards they sub. I don't buy that. I don't give a so called "Proffessional" grading service a pass on grading mistakes just because someone subbed a lot more cards. I can't say for sure but something sure smells like fish here.

Be prepared for poor customer service if they make a mistake (see my thread from the past weekend on this subject for more details).

Not only have they grown faster than their processes can function effectively. They also LIE about it when then screw up.

    I'm done with them.

I have not had any problems with them, other than they can be a little slow in shipping.

They have had several cards I needed that were in high grade and fairly priced. Cards did not seem overgraded either.

It does sound like they are hard to deal with if there is a problem, I have been lucky so far.

lmfao... shut up already. If you're not kidding I mean. And I highly doubt you're not kidding.
  • For the most part, their prices are good and you'll get what you pay for. Have noticed shipping is slower than it used to be.

BUT, if you ever have a problem, which I do right now ...

It's an absolutely horrible experience. I have been going back and forth with Tracy for 2 weeks and it's very simple to solve.
    They just don't care.

What i found interesting is that I put 29 cards in my cart last night and was about to check out and for some reason it told me my cards were not available. It was late so i waited for today to go back and re enter my cards. All of the card prices on the ones i selected last night are now about $2 a card more. Not a huge deal but i found it interesting.

Thank you all for your posts.

    Morning,

Do yourself a favor, find the cards you want that they have in PSA 10, then give me a list and I'll see what I have from the list in PSA 8. I'll sell them to you for a 10th, write GEM MINT 10 with a sharpie on the Holders of the ones I sell you and you end up with the Same Card in the Same Grade !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And mine won't even be Trimmed !!!

    No No NO,

I use the Sharpie, but I do have Blue, Black, and Red, so you just tell which color you want and I'll make it happen. imageimageimage

  • I guess I'm lucky, I've never had any problems with them. They do ship a little slow but I'm not in a big hurry so this isn't a big issue with me. As an unscientific test a couple of months ago I cracked eight of their cards and sent them to SGC taking advantage of one of their monthly specials. All of them graded and none came back with a lower grade, two bumped a grade. For what its worth.

I've purchased several cards from them, at prices I felt were good. No issues at all, though one graded card was grossly overgraded, which is not their fault. I can't complain about shipping time as others have, as I live in Rhode Island, and most packages arrived within 2-3 days.
Would I buy from them again? Yes.
Hopefully (knock on wood) I won't have to deal with their customer service department. Too bad others have had issues with this area of their business.

Just made my first purchase from them today, they listed some psa 10 Brady RC's at a very fair price.
  • I've had one very minor issue with a card and their customer service took care of it in a very efficient manner. No complaints here, and I've bought a bunch of cards from them.
  • When i can get PSA 10's for my player collections for $8 a piece, sign me up.

Couldn't agree more. Plus they ship fast.

Screw the haters. And the communists.

That's the way I feel. I didn't have to sign anything though.

When you can get a PSA 10 for $8 and watch a PSA 9 in the same card go for $80 on Ebay....which would you choose?

Hands down best name in the hobby. We all want sharp corners on our cards and they'll be happy to slice one for you, after they've gently cupped it using white or blue gloves.

Word has it Mr. Schillito joined them recently to beef up their customer care and ebay bidding operations.

This is fine if the label is what you collect. There is a reason its only $8.00. The 9 on ebay is obviously a more desirable card to collectors who are after the card and not just the label.

who doesn't love 56/41 centering. ...that's T/B AND L/R by the way. maybe PSA could start supplying the inner sleeve for the cards they sub?
