1818 Ferdinand VII Silver 8 Reales Zs, Unusual?

My latest purchase. I have always liked 8 Reale coins. Except for 1821, these Zacatecas Mint coins are usually quite crude and very poorly struck. The one I bought I felt was nice for its type.

For a bit of fun the first person that can see something unusual that I noticed about it, gets an imaginary gold star! image

    Nice Zacatecas piece, Huss!

Other than the usual crudeness, what I noticed was the two dots after Gratia, as well as the fact that the obverse dentils were cut into the die in segments of 2's.

At a show in Nevada, Iowa, I picked up a couple of Mexican 8 Reales. Here is my newp 1818 Zs. Several differences. Interesting to see side by side.

Thanks. Spot on. I didn't notice the dentils but the two dots after GRATIA jumped out at me. Is this a known/ recorded variety? I searched the net for hours but couldn't find another example. I found a coin with the same reverse die but haven't seen another with two dots.

Thanks for yours HoledandCreative. These are neat and it's nice to compare the differences of the dies.

Huss, Calbeto doesn't list the two dots after Gratia variety. Also, looks like you have a "corona de cuatro arcos" reverse (Calbeto-777) where the middle arc of the crown is not well defined.

There are numerous varieties of the 1818. Very neat series to collect.

Thanks TwoKopeiki. I didn't know about the "corona de cuatro arcos" reverse (Calbeto-777). Does Calbeto give die combinations or list the obverse reverse states individually?

My looks to be the same reverse as this one:

with exception of the "middle arc of the crown is not well defined."

If this was a British or US coin with such a noticeable difference/variety or error like two dots after the legend it would be much sought after and publicised. I take on board that these were crudely done and varieties exist. Even so do you think I could get PCGS to note "Two Dot Variety" on the holder? or better yet could I get it slabbed as a discovery coin?

Does anyone have a contact to a specialist or author of these types of coins? I would like to find anyone that has info or has seen another of this type, or if it is recorded anywhere. If no one has documented it, logic would state it is quite rare as it is an obvious change to a standard type. Thanks.
