109 Down--1964 Topps Stand Up Completed in PSA 8 or Better

Another set I have been working on for the last decade has also come together recently. Not that the 1964 Topps Stand Up set is especially rare--it isn't--it is just very popular. The toughest card in the set is the pop 21 Baldshun which I bit the bullet on and paid 1700 for(I think) but the two toughest cards for me were Ron Hunt and the pop 23 Hal Woodeshick. This 77 card set is the first die-cut set since the Topps 1951 all-star sets. There are 77 cards and the set is loaded with superstars--Mantle, Mays, Aaron, the Robinsons, Spahn, Kaline, Banks, Killebrew and Yaz.

Every card in may set is a PSA 8 which makes my set tied for 7th in the PSA Set Registry. Joe Wilson is first in this set followed by collecting luminaries Louchious, Fogel and Ireland. I intend to let this set rest at this level.

I appreciate the help of all collectors and dealers in helping me complete all my sets in PSA 8 or better.

Jim ... Congrats once again. Maybe one of these days we will meet as you pass thru the St. James area on your way to the Hamptons.
    STAY HEALTHY!

    Doug

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Congrats! - like many others I am working on the stand-ups. How hard can it be I thought - It's only 77 cards.. that was a long time ago.

It's a tough set not only due to low pop from limited production, but the fact of having one card with gum must have stained a fair share of cards. Not to mention the fun was to fold them open and have them stand up! To buy raw is really challenging due to the amount of trimming and recoloring these cards get. I find PSA has been very stringent with the grading standards for this set in recent years. Your complete 8 set will stand the test of time. image

    Vettfanatic,

    I just did!

    Anthony,

Thanks--one of your favorites is now up.

    Doug,

I hope so--I still get to WHB a few times a year.

    Jay,

Patience still carries the day. The way to do it is to have a lot of irons in the fire....and of course to have a dealer like Steve Novella bothy looking for you and being proactive.

    SB Trailrider,

Hang in there--everything you say is true but patience will be reqarded.

    Congratulations.
