4SC Website

Anyone know how long it takes for 4SC to add EBay listings to their website ??
Yesterday, they placed an '82 Donruss Ryan PSA 10 ($55) and '83 Donruss Ryan 10 ($75) on EBay.
I figured I would purchase off their website and get the 10% discount and free shipping. They were not there.
When I returned to EBay to just hit BIN, they were already gone.

I have run into this as well. Their newly graded cards seem to start out on eBay only and then migrate to the web-site over time. The web-site becomes a bit of a bargain bin IMO. I no longer check the web-site even with the 10% discount and free shipping. I think it's difficult to sell the same inventory on eBay and on your own web-site. Stuff that will move quickly will occasionally be purchased on both sites creating a real headache.
  • And what is with the absolutely crazy starting prices on all their cards. It use to be that they would start out crazy and after 1st week and no bids, prices would come down. They just seem to now list everything as a 30 day listing BIN with outrageous starting point but now, only bring the pricing down by 10% every 60 or so days. This has really cut down on my purchases from them. However, I am sure they are not hurting for business. Dave

I agree that prices seem a little higher lately. I find myself buying raw and subbing at the $5 to $5.50 special as opposed to buying graded. I get a few rough grades but I am able to get far more cards graded. Quantity over quality perhaps but more enjoyable for me.

Sorry for the thread bump, but I didn't feel like starting ANOTHER thread about 4sc. Just found this auction's scan interesting...

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Claude Rains will win the auction. He is a type collector.

Do you think they tried to scan those more than once?
"No, no, no. I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying. I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What?" - Dr. Evil,
Not implying that 4SC is akin to Dr. Evil.

    Edited to add:
These are, apparently, some type of lenticular kind of card where the scanner cannot capture the image due to the angle of the light source. These would need to be photographed to get the surface image, which still may be pretty poor. I wonder what a scan of those UD Holographic cards from the early 90's would look like?

I posted about this about 2 weeks ago. The reason they can do this is that few if any other people have as many psa 10's that they do (i.e. monopoly). When this happens they can charge us little men whatever they want. PSA should really consider dropping the "psa representative seller's (4sc, psa set guy, etc)", it kind of puts psa in a precarious position, it puts the registry users at the hands of a handful of sellers that can assist with your wants, and it financially puts these companies into another stratosphere.image

Look, I dislike 4SC just as much as the next guy, but I certainly wouldn't say they had a monopoly on psa10's or any other kind of card. They have a legit business model, they've found a niche with mostly modern registry collectors, but there are certainly other (dozens of others) that also sell high volume of PSA graded modern. Yes, they are one of the largest, but they are still one of many.

The real reason that their prices may seem high to you is because there is someone else that collects the same cards that you collect, but they've been paying 4SC more than you're willing to pay. "Dumb money" drives prices up.
