Syracuse, Kentucky, and Kansas

NO ONE should be making a big deal about Syracuse's loss. His backups should have been playing most of the time right away. The utility of the tournament was zero; it would not affect their #1 seed whether they lost the first game or won the whole thing.

Why you would attempt to win these games with starters is like playing 72o repeatedly in Hold'em.

Kentucky was almost as bad. Calipari said we needed a gutty win like that. NO YOU DIDN'T. Again, the utility of the tournament for Kentucky was zero - even more so than Syracuse.

As far as Kansas is concerned, at least they lost to a solid opponent.

    Well we slipped up in the conference tournament final; just as we did in 1996 when we won it all. And it's quite likely we'll once again face Syracuse for the national title just as we did for 1996. Interesting, no?

    I had said only a colossal screw up would have Kentucky losing. I meant in the NCAA. Todays loss actually increases their chances in the big dance. If they fail to win it all perhaps it is time to replace the coach.

    Like I said before, I'm glad the "colossal screw up" came up today when it didn't really matter that much. I'm not so sure about the replacing the coach thing (anything can happen in the NCAA's) but this most definitely should be our year to get #8; anything less would be a major disappointment. image
