1941 Boston Red Soxs Signed Ball ... Need help if Legit

Here is the story, do you think the ball is legit ?
The dad was hit in the head by a foul ball and had to be treated by a doctor.
They stopped the game (training game) and gave him the ball signed by the team because of his injury.
Supposedly the sons watched as they passed the ball around to be signed by everyone.
Legit ?
Lots of pics of the ball and the original letter.

And if Legit what kind of value would it have ?

    The autos look good.

    Doerr, Williams, Woody Rich, Earl Johnson all look pretty spot on IMO

    Ball/sigs 100% legit, letter is 100% to the Era, story 50% believable IMO
