Any expert opinions? Ken Hubbs baseball and old poster cards

I dug this baseball out of my Grandparent's attic this morning, anyone know whats its worth or if its worth getting authenticated? Seems to be a bunch of early 60s cubs and sox bums + Ken Hubbs. I also found another baseball but it has 25 faded sigs and the only one I recognize is Nelson Fox, maybe I'll get some scans up. As far as this one goes I think I have identified all the signatures, have a look.

Ken Hubbs
Jim Stewart???
Paul Toth
Charlie Metro
Cal Koonce
Tommy Mccraw
Dick Ellsworth
Jim Schaffer
Don Buford

I also unearthed some strange poster cards that are unmarked are slightly larger than 3 x 5, here's a few scans anyone know what these are? Found about 25 of these, all of them low grade, some have red print on the back.

I believe Banks and Mantle are from the 1962 Exhibits Set.

The black backed ones are 1962 Exhibit Stat Backs, the red backed ones are 1963 Exhibit Stat Backs. They have some value, but in their current condition, not much.

Can't say anything on the autographs.

The ball appears to have been started around 61-2.

Metro was probably gotten at an oldtimers day.

Nice item, Having Hubbs on it makes it very special.

Jim Stewart was an infielder for the Cubs and White Sox between 62 and 68

    It's not the actor...lol

    Welcome to the boards too.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • The Hubbs is nice. Single signed would command more.

Metro was manager of the cubs in '62 so the autos fall in line with '61-'63
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Thanks for the awesome replies again guys, I think I will just hang on to the ball seems pretty expensive to have it authenticated vs what its actually worth. I thought I might have found a monster after flipping through the SMR guide and seeing Ken Hubbs SS ball worth 1000 bucks.

Figured I would post some pictures of the other ball I found while I am at it. Apparently this is most of the 1951 white sox 4th place team, some interesting sigs but it doesn't look like I struck gold here either.

here's the list I have been working on

    Phil Masi
    Bill Pierce
    Howie Judson
    Al Zarilla
    Eddie Robinson
    Nelson Fox

    Randall Gumpert

    Rob Dillinger
    Floyd Baker
    Lou Kretlow
    Joe Erautt
    Don Lenhardt

    Harry Dorish
    Joe Dobson
    Saul Rogovin
    Gus Niarhos

    Orestes Minoso
    Paul Richards

Roger Cramer (not sure about this one)
    Marv Rotblatt
    17 Carrasquel
    Ken Holcombe
    Jim Busby
    Joe DeMaestri

I've got to think that the ball w/ Hubbs is worth at least a few hundred to the Cubs/ROY collectors out there. I can't imagine that he signed very many autographs back in the day, and it's likely many of these signatures didn't survive over the years.

Whoops, kind of feel silly that I didn't notice that.
  • I did the same thing with a Fasc ball my first time here. I thought I had a nice a-rod rookie team signed ball! Pretty standard for the every day joe not to be able to tell the difference..... I've learned an immense amount from the boards.
