anyone else sad???

my son's high school basketball career came to and end this weekend. very sad...he finished on the upside scoring twelve on senior night and eight in his last game when they lost in the sectionals. he won't be playing after high school unfortunately. not a great demand for 5-7 point guards....anyone else go thru this sadness recently??? at least I still can root for my daughter who also plays and will be a sophomore next year.....

<< <i>Think of it this way... In 15 years you get to watch his son go through school and play sports all over again. >>
wow... seriously?

I couldn't agree more. Very well said.
<< <i>Hopefully your son has discovered the true values of team sports, that will last him a lifetime. >>
One of our twins is such a hard worker and eager to please me that he is a defensive warrior.
When we lost in the tournament he came over to me with tears in his eyes. I gave him a hug and told him coaching their team was the most fun I had this year.
At this very moment, I hear the ball bouncing on the driveway outside. When I am watching TV and hear that ball bouncing it always makes me smile.
Point is, I will try to enjoy these moments and will be in your shoes soon enough.
My son graduated last year as an all-state, Jr. Olympic & Sr. Olympic (Doesn't mean old, just ability level) swimmer.
The college he planned to attend, because of their highly ranked business & law schools, dropped its men's swim/dive
program because of budget cuts.
Once he got on campus he met a great group of guys on the water polo team. He had never played the game but they
talked him into coming out. Long story short, he now starts and is having a blast playing a new sport.
He also joined a club swim team that a few weeks ago beat the likes of UVA, Va. Tech, Md. & Wm. & Mary.
They will be going to the Collegiate Club Swim Championships later this year.
Tell your son to keep his eyes, ears & options open.
He may end up finding a new sport/team to continue his athletic love.
