vintage boxing help

Hey boxing experts,

I have a local CL add selling these four vintage boxing cards, just curious for opinions. Might not be the best pictures, but figured might as well see if its a good deal. Asking $50, the cards seem to be to be in pretty decent shape, he's got them in a glass frame. Thanks, in advance.

  • $50 is fair you won't be making much money at that though.

That Peter Jackson looks nice, but I'm a little concerned about two things - First, how does the seller have them fixed inside the frame? They're usually glued inside something like that - in which case, I would definitely pass. My second concern - those cards show a lot of gloss in those photos. I'm not used to seeing that much gloss on these cards. I'm not aware of these two sets (T218 & T220) being reprinted, but I'm used to seeing reprints of vintage golf and vintage boxing being displayed in frames like this. I'm not sure why someone would display these particular cards if they were reprints though - since they aren't the biggest cards in the set, but I digress.

If the cards are real, and they aren't trimmed - I think $50 is a decent price.

I wouldn't bother - even if real, the T218 with the red background scanned individually looks trimmed (and I agree about the glossiness of the finish, but maybe that's just the flash?).

The T220 looks trimmed on the bottom as well. Actually on the back, it looks like the area just above the Mecca Cigarettes logo has a spot that looks erased - exactly where cards typically have the word "Reprint" printed. So

Again, even if real, there's only $25 of cards there at best because of what appears trimming - PASS!
