SCD-- Any Good?

Received an invitation in the mail today for a discounted one year subscription to SCD. I thought it had folded. Did it do that and was later revived by someone else? In any event, does anyone subscribe? Worth the price? I enjoyed it back in the day but that was before eBay and online sales exploded.

I gave up on SCD several years ago. It was great back in the 80's and 90's. So many ads and most issues had over 200 pages. It's pretty weak now and I'm surprised they're still in business. I do remember page after page of Coach's Corner auctions that seemed pretty shady to me but there was some great dealers that advertised lots of good material. It's all a faded memory now. The internet has taken over for better or worse.

    A waste of trees.
Fortunately with their subscriber base, not near as many as used to be.

What a great hobby periodical it was in its heyday though.

I just received an offer in today's mail as well. Have not subscribed in well over ten years. Here is the offer:

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I don't find it worth the trouble and I was a really loyal subscriber for close to 20 yrs.

Here's a thread that I made back in 2005 where I got SCD to give members here a free 6 wk subscription to try it and decide whether they wanted to continue - in the thread is a link to another thread that I started - which was a Survey of who buys and stuff.

Since we have so many blogs and forums dedicated to hobby information - I really think the printed rag has kind of lost it's luster.

Yep. That $26.00 deal is the same one offered to me. I am somewhat tempted inasmuch as I miss a printed publication (call me old school). However, I can only imagine the magazine is now ultra thin and probably unlikely presents enough of substance to warrant such an outlay. Now at $12.00 a year, I would probably be in so I guess I will pass.
