My vote is d) they were just raw and sitting in someone collection. It would be hard to get that many from packs are there isn't a big supply of them out there. Vending is so hit and miss, I'd be surprised you could get that many consistently grade out as a PSA 10.

i'm gonna go with --- D. they were raw and you subbed all of them.

This is what scared me off from bidding higher on the Bob Uecker 10 that just ended. Although I really wanted it for my number 1 set.

I'll say d, that would be a ton of vending/wax that was ripped.

I'd go with d as well. I was at a small, regional show several years ago and picked up a group of 1968 commons from a dealer's stock. He had about 10 of several cards--not the double prints--and I pulled several 9s and a couple of 10s. Who knows how long he'd had them.

I would agree. There are still tons of great cards out there sitting in collections that have never been seen. For example, I still have sets from the late 70's and 80's that have never been graded that I assembled from wax and racks. Seems fairly likely that there are a few hundred 1967 sets out there assembled in 1967 that none of the cards were ever graded.

Vending runs can have odd collation that might yield unusually high #s of certain cards
Can't imagine anyone willing to open that much wax or racks

After my first answer got shot down, I agree with you Matt. But I'm usually wrong. BTW, is that Tark as your avatar?

Did you come across a hoard of vending boxes or was this a fresh collection of cards that were pulled from vending years ago and stored safely?

I was curious if the answer might have related to a family member's collection. I sold one of his cards to a family member a few weeks back.
