Whats a fair price for this coin ? This 1876-cc Trade $ has high AU to UNC. details ,but has been very lightly cleaned on the obverse and MAYBE a very light wipe on the reverse.

    Maybe $1,000?

I'm not a big fan of discounted problem coins. I know it's tough one. But the cleaning, and the spot on the wing that draws your eye would make it hard for me to justify much more.

Might as well clean it a bit more to get the spot off.

The spot looks like it could be fairly easy to remove. Its not in the coin, its on the surface.

Not sure I'd go along with that, Dave. My bet is it's permanent.

Do you have to be a member to send a coin to NCS?

I just looked and there is a huge spread between EF and AU, I was going to say net it down to a 45, but that seems to be excessive. I am going to guess that it is worth 50 money. It is highly detailed and sans the spot looks very nice. If I were thinking of buying it I would do some research though, I am just guessing. The cleaning would seem to be very light and not offensive.

Are you an ANA member? I think that would cover it. I didn't check but I think if you can submit to NGC you can submit to NCS.

I'll send it in for you, Dave. PM me.

Thanks for the opinions. I purchased the coin.

Update: After a soak in acetone the spot on the right wing and the spot by the D in dollar came off and the coin looks considerably better. I am pretty sure the coin is technically uncirculated.
