PCGS Spot Review/David Hall Review

Does PCGS still do a spot review or a Presadental review? I heard from a friend they don't do those any more? Any one know what happened?


Any one know how to get PCGS to buy back a coin that should fall under the PCGS Guarantee?

Yes. This is one way to invoke the grade guarantee.

Yes they do, I sent one in and received it back within a couple weeks.

He does but it isn't the fastest process but it doesn't have to be. I submitted a Trade that has PVC and spotting hoping they would clean it up and send it back and I am still waiting. It has been a little over three months but it is a valuable service that I would prefer they do right and not quick. I am just happy they are as collector focused as they are.

Don't feel bad. We have a friend on this forum who has a coin that's been on the "big guy's desk" for well over a year now.

Submitted a Lincoln and pcgs received Aug 28th of 2011...............it's now 29th of Feb 2012............previous (2 times) they were within 1 month

i submitted a $20 back in december for spot review. it came back in 20 days.

Maybe he is moving into his beach house and is a little busy. I see he wrote a opinion of the 1841 1/4 Lib, that's pretty cool

Why does it take so long? are they toned coins turning black and he is monitoring them to see if they are continuing to turn?

Update from my Aug submission......PCGS contacted me today and made a fair offer since my coin did downgrade...........That is one of the reason I try and stay with pcgs!

Maybe they are blast white peace dollars with singe pixels starting to tone a rainbow color
