Hey, for a circulation search, I would consider a slick V-nick quite noteworthy, actually.

And it so happens y'all are gettin' warm.

I promise not to keep you hangin' too long. Just gotta do a picture and update the spreadsheets before I post the results of today's search.

Don't get TOO excited. It wasn't anything earthshaking. But it was certainly noteworthy for an "in the wild" find, in my opinion.

VF-XF? Huh. I wish. I've never found a Buff in circulation with that kind of detail. Three of the five I've found were dateless. Then there was a weakish 1920. The best was a Fine+ 1937-D I got from a Pepsi machine. The fifth was...

... Hmm. I'm gettin' ahead of myself, here. image

Nope. I did find a choice AU pretty-toned '54 in the till at work a year or two back. And in '92 or thereabouts I found a Gem BU 1940 in with a bunch of newer 1990s coins- it looked better than they did.

But I guess I should stop blabbering now and go update my spreadsheets and drop the other shoe, huh. Watch for my Jeffie Circ set to pop back up TTT in a little while. Results there.

<< <i>I love searching nickels... they've been the same size/weight/composition since shield nickels... not that I've ever found a shield, but I've found plenty of V's and Buffs. image >>

    V's and Buffs?

Best I've found were war nicks.

pulled 1 from my last box. and 2 Canadian and 1 Bahama five cent-er.

one of my best finds was a group of 17 buffaloes in 1 nickel box. All common dates in low grades, but still cool to find a little hoard like that. Can't wait to hear what you got.

  • << <i>Was it a nice VF-XF buff? I found a '37 that was pretty nice the other day. image Best I ever found was an AU '25. Here's a find that made me sad... yeah, it was an ender...

I found a 56-D nickel the other day with a similar circle in the middle of the Monticello portico, it's concave. What are those things for/from?

OK, sorry. Had to run errands in town today and I figgered everybody would rather I ship my BST and swap obligations instead of chitchatting about my circulated Jefferson set, right? Then, after the day's errands, I took ladymarcovan out for her birthday dinner.

Spreadsheets done now (ugh- that's a chore- I'll probably streamline the process later), and pix are loaded.

    Posting update on my Jeffie thread in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ...
