Got the rug pulled out from under me on an EBAY auction

Kinda poopy pants about an auction that I lost out on. There was a 79 rack with Rose on top that was listed yesterday under a 3 day auction. I found it today and saw it had 2 days left. There was a $21 bid and I put in a $60 bid figuring I should win this.

Well I get home from soccer practice, checked my e-mail and saw I lost the auction. I am like WTF! I really wanted this rack. When I pulled up the auction it said "This listing was ended by the seller because the item was sold." I checked the bid history and someone bid $50 at 5:05 and then $61 at 5:05 again and the auction ended after only 1 day.

Did the seller end the auction early? I get the feeling the buyer asked what it would take to purchase it outright and the seller ended early. If that is what happened, he left money on the table because I would have paid more than $60.

Oh well, maybe next time.

    Yes, that is what happened. When the seller ends an item early, he/she has the choice to either end it or sell it to the highest bidder, which is what happened here.

    Crap, that's what I thought. I thought for a second I was going crazy because I knew it said 2 days left this afternoon.

    When he listed it last night I asked him if he would sell it to me via paypal.

    This AM he got back to me around 5am and said he would take $40.00 for it.

    I double checked with CPAMIKE to make sure it was authentic and told him I would take it.

    Well, about lunch today he contacts me and says he has bids on it and to become high bidder and he would sell it to me.

    I do it and he closes it.

    Apologize about that, however I give you my word I had asked him last night with no bids and then he offered a very low price IMHO and I jumped on it.

    You got a good deal and a GREAT rack. I hope you enjoy it. BTW, if you ever sell it, make sure it comes my way.
