Am I the only one that seems to be rushing to the PO before closing?

I always take my son and we always are clock watching the whole way. Today will be our average 5 minutes to spare... Phew! image

We have automated postal machines in my p.o.'s lobby.

Easy to use and can go after closing.

I never go to the counter anymore.

One of Rick's packages is coming to me. I paid this morning and out in the PM. Very nice!

MBMILLER, Good luck at the races! I actually drove over this morning to meet a client in the Palm Coast area and it looked like a lot of people were leaving and not staying for the race. There were also tons of RV's sitting idle when we drove through Daytona waiting to see if the race would happen. We had some light showers in the past hour here in Orlando so hopefully the weather holds up and the race happens. Daytona is about 60 miles or so East so when it was raining all day yesterday we did not even get a drop. Take care and have fun!

The lady at my PO told me thats the only thing that bugs her. When people come in the last 30 min. They normaly are not full staff on front bc they are doing what needs to be done in the back. So I try and go early over late.

How does this work? A slot open up and you place your package inside it?

I've had my share of 12:55PM Saturday arrivals at the Post Office. Normally I don't have too many packages so they don't get upset with me. There was another lady who used to show up after me (1 to 2 minutes before closing) every Saturday with bags full of items to ship. They would be frowning when she hit their counters. I use the machines a lot more often now unless I have some special requirement like registered mail or very high insurance buys.

Tell that old hag that if this bugs her then the Post Office should close 30 minutes earlier. Damn Union workers, surprised she doesn't also get pissed when people come in during the first few minutes the PO opens.

This type of attitude is the reason the USPS is a POS and is going to eventually go under.

Not sure if it's standard everywhere, but my APC has a an oversized mailbox next to it. You pull open the door and there is a tray that is maybe 2.5' x 1' x 1'; drop your package(s) into it, close the door, and you hear them drop into the mailbox.

There's a scale next to the machine.

You place your letter/package on the scale. Put in zipcode, pick out the type of service you want (1st class w/ dc),
pay w/ credit card, put postage on package & put in mailbox. Very easy.

So you're dumping 275 packages at the post office at quitting time? I bet they love you.
