I see scads of these that are scudzy, I want some with eye-appeal or perhaps special strikings or even off-metal examples

There's a silver one here, but it's not your typical inexpensive piece. (Nor is it horrendously expensive, I suppose?) I have little experience with duits other than the typical bargain box kind, though I've managed to cherrypick some decent VF-XF examples and even one or two with traces of red in the past.

(Edit- whoops- sorry- that one above doesn't have the VOC monogram.)

They are tough in high grade. I have a few but they are lower grades.

Gold and silver strikings do exist and are usually in uncirculated condition. These were usually struck on New Years day when people could get to the mint and strike their own off-metal pieces, like the one LordM posted. I presume this was done for the VOC pieces as well.

I'll keep an eye out for them
