GAI Auction House

I'm no expert on Chamberlain autographs, but this autograph doesn't look right to me.

Any other opinions on it?

If it is indeed no good, does the auction house stand behind what they are selling? I sort of expected them to police their listings somewhat....or is GAI still considered acceptable by some people?

I don't like it, and I'm surprised they took it on.

"The effects of the star's penmanship—visually and emotionally—are wholly satisfying. Chamberlain passed away in 1999" ...they need a new description writer.

The card itself looks really funky as well......fake card + fake auto = big bucks??

The real deal is on the left.....the back on the right looks as wrong as wrong can be......no color whatsoever....

This is from a book signing and he has a characteristic way of making his "W" - I collect signed books of athletes.

    And here's one PSA/DNA:

  • In comparison with the PSA/DNA and other example that GAI isn't even a good fake.

Is it just me? Or did Wilt (Will) spell his name wrong?

So is Legendary Auctions not legit? Any auction houses out there I should avoid?

Legendary IS legit. I am really surprised they took this on consignment as well. This is an obviously fake card with a fake auto. Not quite sure what to make of this. I am tempted to call, but not sure what good it will do......

Mike, I'm not saying this is the case here, and I have no opinion on the autograph, but my mother never crossed her T's when they ended a word. I always found that odd, and have seen it from some other people that went to school in her era (she was born in 1936 just like Wilt).

    Edited to add:

It wasn't so much that she left the T uncrossed, but just an up sweep from the bottom instead of a full cross when the letter T ended the word. Here is what I mean.

  • I got their catalogue for this auction in the mail yesterday- it's the size of a phone book! The auction house is quite legit, with some stunning items. This item is a blemish though.

  • eeek...it surely looks off...the funny thing is at ebay only lists 3 companies that do autos as approved...
psa, jsa, and gai....I had a 76 payton signed in a gai holder once and jsa rejected the auto....

Collecting Clemente master (#6) and basic PSA registry sets, Hank Aaron master and basic sets, Mantle oddball issues, 1970's mega decade HOFs, 1967 Topps pin ups, and high grade Topps Clemente and Aaron. Numerous transactions with over 100 board members.
  • I think the moral of the story here is star far, far away from anything authenticated by GAI. It kind of pisses me off when I see supposed legit auction houses like Legendary or Iconic selling crap authenticated by GAI or ACE.
