Please guess the grade of this Barber half. Answer posted in 1st post of thread pg1.

just one side for now, and please play a long, especially for those who might recognize it, I have a point to make, thanks for playing.

and now the other side, the obv:

the reason that I asked the opinion of the rev from the members is often when a brockage is presented I was never sure if the members here would grade both sides where as the TPG's only grade the nonbrockage side (the reverse) as per my understanding. PCGS gave the grade au58 for this one and even though the grade isn't as important on brockages as with normal strikes I wanted to see how the rev went off. Thanks for playing!

<< <i>I'll say AU53, but I don't care for the scratch across the shield. It probably isn't severe enough to end up in a genuine holder, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a "genie" either. >>
Are you kidding about the scratch across the shield? The surfaces on that half are close to perfect! I could see a grade anywhere between 50 and 55.

<< <i>Thanks for sharing that. I admit I learned something new today. I didn't know what a brockage was so had to go look it up. From what I gather from reading about them, I would think it's pretty amazing the coin in the picture has such an incredible strike and alignment. Any clue as to what year?

On the brockage side, is the design incused?
