Just curious when we might start seeing our boxes arrive? What's the usual turnaround time from BBCE? No hurry...just wondering.
  • PorkinsPorkins Posts: 615 ✭✭✭
I am in Arkansas, which isn't all that far from BBCE and I, almost without fail, receive UPS on the 3rd day... i.e. Assuming Steve got the boxes out on Tuesday morning (or Monday afternoon), I should undoubtedly have a package waiting at home this afternoon.

I believe someone already got one yesterday. If you look in the 1983 cello box break thread.

I was expecting to get mine either today or tomorrow. I will bust mine tonight if it is at the house when I get back from campus.

Great memories of this set and can't wait to build the set.

Box came today here are some of the highlights of the packs I am going to keep sealed.
The last one is a Darryl Strawberry on the back. Also got Bert Blyleven, and a Fred Lynn,
    on the back.

I just busted my box seal(it was hard being from a sealed case) and looked at the packs.

    I got a

    Don Mattingly on top

    Eric Davis Rookie on top

    Andre Dawson on top

Dwight Gooden on back but it was the bottom pack in the box and the seal is popped on it.

Third pack I have busted had Jeff Leonard on top and the next card was a beautiful Kirby Puckett rookie so I was one card away from having a centered Puckett on top.

Sixtenth pack had Bob Stoddard on top and the next card was Roger Clemens and then eight cards down was Jeff Leonard and then a NEAR PERFECT Kirby Puckett(possible 10) came again.

Acutally all packs have backs that are popped. I don't really care, just curious does that happen alot with the 1985 Fleer cello boxes on the bottom of the cases?

I got one of the bottom boxes and the weight on the case I guess was too much?

The seals look good but when you go to open them they have no seal.

Well, that was a blast and opened all 24 packs.

I pulled some great Puckett rookies

    Here is the list

    Roger Clemens rookie
    Kirby Puckett X2 rookie
    Doc Gooden rookie
    Brett Saberhagen rookie
    Orel Hershiser rookie

and just about every star I can think of...Ripken, Rose, Schmidt , Yount, Brett, Sandberg, Ozzie, Nolan Ryan etc.

I have to be very close to a set because I only got a handful of doubles.

Probably build it tonight while watching UK play UGA.

    Congrats on some great cards!!!

Wish you would've left that pack with the Eric Davis RC sealed, I'd have traded for that!!!

The seals on all 24 packs were popped on the back or I would have kept it sealed.

    It just wasn't sealed.

Did a preliminary look at the packs and not a star in sight.... No HOF'ers, no rookies, not even a semistar... Unless you count Mike Scott. Will let you guys know if I rip anything out of the ordinary.

I had the same issue with my 1985 Fleer cellos and one of the packs that the seal popped had Clemens on the back. I still didn't rip it though. image

    Great collation in my box.

Here is my list to complete the set. (28 cards to complete)

    18, 30, 41, 63, 139, 152,153, 165, 183
    202, 219, 250, 257, 266, 279, 307, 332, 335, 341,
    426, 455, 459, 494, 518, 527, 541, 561 and 605

I am too lazy to check if any are stars but the only player I can think of I don't think I pulled was a Dale Murphy.

I got a total of 40 doubles including Puckett (sending it in) but if anybody needs a Eddie Murray, Jose Rijo rookie, Paul Molitor or a Danny Tartabull rookie you can have them.
If anybody else is building a set just let me know and you can have these 39 extras if you need them.

That was a fun rip. I pulled a really nice Puckett rookie. I had three packs with stars showing...

    image

The seal popped on my Carew pack. For you pack collectors - do you keep a pack that has a partially opened seal? Do they grade these?

  • Nice stuff big80s but me personally would just leave the Ryan sealed and open up the other 2. They're never gonna be worth much really. Its not like those guys (although hof's) are ever in any sort of demand.

Well, to my surprise - I pulled a Paul Molitor and a Rod Carew from those last two packs. I'll keep the Nolan Ryan pack unopened (as painful as that will be).

The highlight of the box for me was pulling these two cards from the same pack...

My box is waiting for me at home.

Has anyone opened a box where the pack seals are good? If the the packs are not really sealed, I'll probably just keep the box in the shrink wrap

  • Got my box today. What a blast ripping it. Landed 2 Clemens RC's, a Puckett RC, Davis RC, and Hershiser RC. Had one pack that has Molitor on the front, and Pete Rose's 4000 hit hard on the back. The other star on top pack was Tony Perez. Have not decided what to do with that pack. Sorry for the poor pics, but wanted to share. Mark

p.s. sorry for the cut up background, was getting card cutting skills down. lol

Even I would rip the BBCE cellophane off. As far as the individual cellos though, it will never happen. image
