'85T-style Olympics customs for Larkin, Clark

Dairy Queen kind of stole my thunder on these back in 1992, but when I found the original photos on line, I decided to make custom cards of Barry Larkin and Will Clark more in the style of the actual 1985 Topps versions.

    Good job Bob!

Will looks so young there - did you 'photoshop' him into the background?

Can you airbrush the Marlboro out of the background? I find it promotes smoking to kidsimage

I love those Bob! They are great.

    Bob ... recheck Clark's 1984 stats. Batting average does not make sense. 76 hits/196 ABs = .388

    Also 1983 ... 32 hits/96 ABs = .333

Thanks, Doug. I took the college stats from the Team USA media guide, and didn't do the math for Clark's BAs. They were correct on Larkin's. The media guide also had Clark's birth date wrong.

I'll correct Clark's BAs before I print the cards.
  • Bob, do you have all of the pics taken at Shea that day (like the Larkin)?

im pretty sure they were taken one after the other, here's McGwire's picture from that day:

No, I don't have the other photos. I wouldn't be surprised to see them somewhere on the internet, though.

Great looking cards, but the back drop is from I believe is Cleveland's old Municipal Stadium not Shea

    Bobby is correct.
All the photos were taken at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on July 20 1984.

Well, now . . . that's something I had never heard in the past. You'd think with all the fuss made over the '85T McGwire over the years, that would have been common hobby knowledge.

Link to the 84 Olympic time media guide.

Check out the infielders on the roster.
    Cory Snyder
    Ken Caminiti
    Will Clark
    Mark McGwire
    Barry Larkin...

    All Star games = 33
    MVP Awards = 2
    Gold Gloves = 8
    Silver Sluggers = 15

And if you airbrush out the white Marlboro sign, and also put a white box on another version... the Larkin can be well on it's way to being like Randy Johnson's RC!
