goudey babe ruth gum stain?

I recently purchased a 33 goudey babe ruth #181 psa 1 and I noticed on the back of the card a stain that looks like a gum stain. Is this common on these cards?

I assume you bought this sight unseen? (The back)

Many cards have them, I wouldn't say most because cards were generally sold more than

1 per pack. I'm not an expert on 1933 Goudeys, but I would think they did not just come in 1 cent packs.

With all that said, we are talking about a PSA 1 here. Even so, the seller if he/she is not willing to post

a 2nd pic they should have at least mentioned it in the description. Certain issues have more than others

notably those issues that were sold for 1 cent and gave you 1 card. Those all would have some sort of stain.

Before buying a card, make sure you (in the future) ask either for a scan of the back or a description.

Enjoy your card, it is a Ruth!

    Good for you.
  • Winpitcher- thanks for the information. I did buy the card without seeing the back of the card which was my mistake but surprisingly the front looks alot better in person than in the picture so I wasn't disappointed. Very clean front and besides the back stain it's a very nice 1 (if that's possible). And like you said it's a babe ruth

It's very possible, more so than probably any other grade.

I'm glad you like it, I wouldn't be so concerned about the reverse.

If you can scan it and post it here.

    Good for you.
  • Sure! I will post pictures up tonight or tomorrow. Just thankful to actually own a Babe Ruth

That's what its all about! Congrats on owning a Babe Ruth card. I'd venture to say, he's a player on every baseball card collector's wish list.
