Current Consensus-- Cross Over Or Crack And Submit?

Hi All--
I have some cards in SGC holders I would like to get in PSA holders. I have read the past debates on whether cracking in submitting is better than just attempting to cross. What is the current wisdom/thought process on the issue? I always worry about damaging the cards through an attempted crack so I am leaning crossover. However, engaging in attempted crossover obviously raises the presumed bias of "well we at PSA grade tougher and SGC's 8 is only our 7." I am not saying the latter is true, but one does wonder how that does not play in the process.
