Stacks-Bowers and David Alexander

I was talking to a friend of mine at Stacks-Bowers and heard that David Alexander no longer works there. I was sad to hear that as David was a great person to talk to there when I had questions about medals. Great guy.

<< <i>Sad to hear that. I should not speculate but I hope this doesn't signal any intent to get out of the medal & token business on Stack's part. >>
Who knows?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
BuffQuarter: <<I don't think it his leaving was a choice. ... I'll have to give him a call.>>
There could very well be a sensible explanation for Alexander’s departure. At this point, he is not a really young guy. It does not make sense to suggest that he was fired. If BuffQuarer has Alexander’s personal phone number, as he says, BuffQuarter should have called Alexander before posting such a remark.
CoinOsaurus: <<... I hope this doesn't signal any intent to get out of the medal & token business on Stack's part.>>
Of course, Stack’s-Bowers will continue to sell medals and tokens. This is a ridiculous statement.
SaorAlba: <<I am surprised QDB has stayed on as long as he has.>>
People who have been reading my articles know that QDB remained a shareholder after the merger occurred in Jan. 2011. My guess is that he is still a shareholder of Stack’s-Bowers Galleries.
SaorAlba: <<Stack’s has been a sinking ship for awhile.>>
This is a defamatory and odd remark.
Stack’s-Bowers remains, by far, the second largest auction company, and does a large retail business.
There will be a Rarities Night event in Baltimore in March. Also, at the ANA Convention in August, Stack’s will auction a complete set of all 111 Carson City coin issues. I just wrote about the PCGS graded MS-66 1876-CC Half Eagle:

Sorry, I haven't read any of your articles.
My comments were merely that it was sad that David Alexander was no longer at Stacks-Bowers. Again, a great guy, regardless of how old he was and regardless of why he is not there anymore.
Thank you for your biased input.
David Alexander is a class act, and his association with Stacks was a credit to their firm. His numismatic knowledge was incredible! e will be sorely missed there, but I am certain we have not heard the last from him.
