I wouldn't really call that card the "holy grail" of football cards. Rarest doesn't not always equate to most desirable or most valuable. The Mayo Cut Plug Football set is an interesting early collegiate football set, but I'd say the 1935 National Chicle set is more collectible and more desirable because it features players from the early days of the NFL.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Sounds like it was the N310 Mayo boxers from 1890 - not huge money in there for the most part, but would've liked to see some pics if there were any John L's or anything else exciting....

I laughed at the comment about it being the second rarest card behind Bret Favre's 1884 card...the one from the year he first tried to retire.
