Are most of the clad Ikes searched at this point? How tough is it to locate true ms66 quality P & D raw mint Ikes?

tough and tougher depending on the date.

Early "P" mints almost impossible, later P/D easier

71-D/76-D Type 2 still the easiest to find in 66

They are not heavily searched (maybe about 60%) but quality Ikes even
in MS-65 were tough the day they were made. For "easy" Ikes perhaps 1%
of original mint set coins were gems and now you'd have to look at 2 1/2
times as many sets to find one (1: 250 sets). MS-66's are much tougher
for all dates except some of the latest dates and the '73.

Roll coins can in some cases be a better bet but locating rolls can be tough
    now days.

If you can't find rolls the best bet is the mint sets that walk into coin shops.
    These sets are usually original.

Raw 65+ coins are very hard to locate, from my understanding the 70's used a low releif dies, 10 years or so later the high reliefs were used.
This still need more research, Maybe the Ike Group has more info.

Check out this reply He is also studing the same Ikes

I just scored $500 in Ikes at my local bank. I've been able to get them in the past, usually $100 or so at a time.

The most recent $500 worth yielded maybe 10 that were worth keeping with minimal bag marks. No type II 1972 dated Ikes, however.

i think we should trust what James said. i bought 10-15 raw 1971-P's and D's from the local dealer back around 2001 and a couple of the D's graded 66 but the best i got with the P's was a few 65's. they were all very pretty coins and i sometimes regret sending FrattLaw(remember him??) a blue toned coin, a 1971-P with a ding on the cheek holding it to 64.

any Eisenhower dollar that grades MS66 is sort of tough and a beautiful thing to behold.

For what it's worth, in 1976 I put away 4 rolls of Ikes, one of each for 76 and 76-D in variety I and variety II. Didn't touch them until last year when I picked out 4 coins I thought were gems, and sent the best one in to PCGS. It came back 66. The other 3 I think would grade 65.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
