PCGS edge view holder question
I'm currently not a member, but am thinking of rejoining since I have 5 things again to crossover. My question is, do you have to get coins with 'Edge View' now when submitting? I personally think the holders are ugly, especially on quarters and smaller. I'd like to get the complete wrap around rubber insert in order to rejoin as a member. Thanks!

<< <i>All prongs all the time now. You don't have an option. I don't mind them at all. >>
Ouch, okay...thanks for answering the question quickly. I will stay away then, it's not a product I like.
...options would be nice.
I personally prefer the prong inserts over the solid rings mainly for this reason.
This is a Discovery Variety, 1939 DDO-007. I have had PCGS reholder this coin twice to get rid of the funk ooozing over the coin. This pretty much blows any chances of taking any good pictures of this variety while in the holder! Luckily I have some before-holder pictures. At least with the prongs, this won't happen!
Edited to add - getting a top pop + grade on one of the coins didn't hurt either

<< <i>Well, looks like PCGS lost some business. Too bad they aren't a customer driven company. >>
Come on that isn't fair. PCGS is one of the most customer driven/accessible companies I know of and just because they made a polarizing decision that upsets a few collectors you have to look at the other side of the coin is that there were quite a few collectors that were upset that the edge view hadn't arrived yet. Also would you be OK if these raised fees across the board for , grading, coinfacts and membership to cover the logistic trail of having two different supply chains for gaskets? Most wouldn't. I am constantly impressed how quickly Emails addressing legitimate collector concerns are answered by the brass over there, have you ever sent an email with your true feelings or are you simply hoping that gripes made on a public forum will heed results?
<< <i>Has PCGS offered a reason why they would not offer a choice? Seems pretty obvious to me.

I agree, they lost my business, I don't like the new holders either. I won't be renewing my subscription for now.

I guesss this means that when DIMEMAN finds another 36-S FS-110 that he'll run across the street to get it graded?
No wait, their prongs are worse!
I guess that leaves ANACS or ICG?
For me, it doesn't really matter. I didn't have any input on the old rattler slabs or the DOILIES and OGH's so if they want to use the pronged holders for all coins so that they can accomodate that "third" edge, its ok with me.
I'm always amazed at the number of folks who are so quick to drop their CC Memberships over the most minor of changes. I guess I'll never understand the motivation since a membershgip here or there (provided they actually do drop) certainly won't have a huge impact on their total business which comes from PCGS Authorized Coin Dealers.
I'd threaten to drop my membership but the only thing I'd really hurt would be my left foot.
For the record, I've liked the pronged holders since their introduction in mid-2007!
