ANACS Older Certification...

Hi,
Hope I am not stepping on PCGS toes by posting about ANACS. Can anyone tell me more information about the way ANACS did the kind of grading you see below. Like, what years they did it like this? Does it make a coin less valuable or more valuable? Did they just keep it in the coin holder the customer had it in? The ones that I bought from this person were not in any special holder. On the certification it is also made out to the coin shop ANACS did the certification for. I also have the original receipt from the coin shop where they were bought from back in 1987. The prices this person paid from the coin shop was ridiculously high. The walker you see he paid $225.00 He also had a 1946 Walker all Ms-63 with a double die reverse for $425.00. Can anyone tell me why this would be or did he just get ripped off? lol. Thank you for any help. I appreciate it,
Dan

As to value, there was a time when Walking Liberty halves were heavily promoted, and the prices for them were quite high. That has gone away now.
Anyway, yes certified coins were few and demand was SKY high. I remember seeing old timers walking into
our local coin shop with wads of $100 bills buying anacs certified Morgans as is yours for $500 each!
Of course many of those same dollars are probably in MS66 and 67 PCGS and NGC holders now.
100% Positive BST transactions
I like the walker!
You have a type 10 photo cert, these were issued from Jan 1987 thru Dec 1990. They are getting harder to find and are a very interesting bit of history for the ANA/ANACS, having the coin with the cert is a plus but it makes no difference on the current price.
As for the history the ANA started ANACS in 1972 in Washingtron DC, in 1976 ANACS moved to Colorado Springs, Co.
The Photo Certs continued thru this cert but ANAAB was started when Amos Press bought ANACS in Dec 1990.
This is just alittle bit of the history of ANACS, There is alot of info out there.
