Your 1837 Capped Bust half dime is an example of the LM-1 die marriage, from the reference book "Federal Half Dimes 1792-1837" by Russell Logan and John McCloskey. It was previously designated as V3 from the Daniel W. Valentine reference "United States Half Dimes" published in 1931. The repunched 7 in the date is a diagnostic for this variety. It is an R1 die marriage, making it one of the most common die marriages for the year. Your example is a slightly later die state, with the obverse die crack from the rim to the cap, or what was previously designated as V3b in Jules Reiver's Variety Identification Manual.

the clash marks are pretty severe with your coin. If you look in the vicinity of of ATE of STATES you might be able to detect the date digits clashed on the reverse!
