I thought perhaps I should ask this in it's own message.
I have a chance to buy a 1906-S Double Eagle. It is in a PCGS slab, graded MS63. The slab has a light green label, and from what I can tell I believe it's from 1995-1998. I have learned that even amongst graded coins that there can be price variations, but if I can pick this coin up for $1,950 is that a decent deal?

If you're planning on keeping
it for a while and it's a nice
coin, it might be a "keeper" !!!
Thanks again.

Old Green (label) Holder
From what I have been able to read it sounds like this particular holder was from 1995-1998. The lady that owns the coin inherited it from her grandfather about 8 years ago, so that seems like it could be about right, depending on how long he owned it, which she didn't know.
I verified the number on it on the PCGS website. I didn't see any way to tell what year the PCGS had done the value though. Is there any way to figure that out? I am curious more than anything.

I suggest researching prices and also evaluating the relative condition rarity of the issue in other grades, before making a decision. Moreover, it is a good idea to have an expert that you trust evaluate the coin before committing to a purchase. There are several specific factors that should be taken into consideration, not just a coin's overall certified grade.
