1911 Canadian Large Cent

Just on a whim I bid on this coin and won it at a local auction:

Sorry in advance for the photo quality. The coin is in a plastic slab and makes the obverse look dull.

Any thoughts on a grade and what it might be worth?

Not counting the PVC spots, the coin could be as high as an ms64 Brown or Red/Brown.

Thanks for the feedback. I believe there is more detail in the obverse than what the photo indicates.

How much would a coin like this be worth, notwithstanding the PVC spots? With the PVC spots?

Canadian trends for a problem free ms64 RED is $135.

The Cdn large cent market is very depressed and over saturated in my opinion.

You'd be lucky to get 60% of $135 for it and that's a red coin!

Yours is brown and with problems, so I would value it at $40 maximum.

    Dbl Eagle,
I believe you are very liberal with MS 64..
Maybe at ICG, but certainly not at ICCS or CCCS

Definite wear in the crown, making it an AU. Then it would be sure to have either corrosion or environmental damage on the holder. It's still a nice coin to have in someone's hands, but not very valuable.... it's a pretty common coin.
