1962 Topps Set

Hey guys, first post here. Literally just got back into the hobby this last weekend. Haven't collected since I was a kid. Starting from scratch I know its going to take time and money, but I'm looking forward to reading and posting with the community here.

That being said, I just stumbled upon this on Craigslist

What are your thoughts? I'm probably not in a position to go for this currently, but is this worth what the guy is asking? The way he states of the condition of the collection I can't tell....

Hi, hello, how are ya? image

I would pass myself. Many with soft corners and oc scares me. Also I don't believe that is a bargain price. Owner knows that also and will entertain best offers. Kudos to seller for honest description of the cards (unless they are really g-vg) If you are just getting back to collecting it is a good idea to sit on the sidelines a while and simply observe the market.

Stay away from that 62 set.

$3,000 is a tad high. If it is a true complete set, based upon the condition of what I seen in the scans, a more realistic offer would be $1,000. And that is purely based upon what you think the stars would grade at, as the commons basically have minimal value, unless 8's or better.
  • Welcome to the forum. I think you will find a boat load of good information here. I have a 62 master set myself that I recently upgraded the raw cards to the NRMT range plus almost 100 PSA 7's and a couple of PSA 6's thrown in for good measure. Personally, I would stay away from that set on Craigslist. Unless you can find an honest and/or knowledgeable seller, take the grade they post and knock at least one grade off it and you'll be pretty close to actual condition of the cards. At least that's been my experience. That being said, there are sellers out there that get the grade right on, but I would really be cautious of the Craigslist deal.

Agree - a little steep. Welcome.
