Cool counterstamped Draped Bust Quarter

I rarely buy stuff that I know I'll never sell. Usually I get burnt out on collecting any one particular series or subject every couple years, and then sell off the vast majority of the collection. However, one thing I've always loved, and I'm confident I'll never sell, is my collection of coins counterstamped or graffiti'd with a date. I don't know why, but I just find them super-interesting.

That being said, here was an eBay pickup I made today that I'm super happy with:

Congrats Will. I thought it was interesting when I saw it, but not worth me going after.
I'm actually surprised there was no other competition!

  • I like it too. With out the counter stamp the coin is still worth what you paid.

Aah, so "savoyspecial" and "engraved" and and "HoledandCreative" and I aren't the only ones, then. Cool.

I've really taken a shine to "graffiti" coins, though I've mostly kept it within the boundaries of my love token dime collection so far. If I ever branch out, which seems inevitable, I'm know I'm headed down a long and slippery slope into madness. But a happy kind of madness, hahaheehee.

But buying stuff like this for no other reason besides the fact it's interesting can also act as a sort of tonic for jaded souls, I think. And then it's a catalyst for restoring sanity rather than creating madness.

Very nice c/s. It oozes character.
