1964D Type C Reverse, Reverse of 1965

Have a look at my 2 pieces of 1964D Reverse C, Reverse of 1965 in my NGC Registry Custom Set of Varieties. I just posted them there. One is PCGS MS64 and the other is PCGS MS65. I didn't want to pay the additional $25 each to put the attribution on the slabs, but you can see the close-up pic of the reverse with the well defined and split tail feathers... File sizes are too big to post here.

It'd be useful to have a link so that we may know what set is yours. Also, I'd think about paying the $ to have it properly attributed. That's an important coin in a high grade, so why not highlight it? Yes I know it sucks to pay $24 for them to just type it on the label, but in the future if you decide to sell, you'll be glad you paid the extra money. It will bring the premium you'll be looking for.

Now, to figure out who harveypb is....
edited to add...I REALLY have to send in my 2 MS64 '64-C's for review, or crack out and grade....no offense, harveypb, but with that gash on the eagles left wing, I think it would have precluded an MS65 if that were sent in for grading and attribution at the same time. You played it smart, I must say...I did the same thing with my new top-pop '56 MS66 and '58 MS66 Type B's...graded them first (with my freebies coupon), then sent them back for attribution. Also, those are nice, white examples (I'm not much a fan of toning, myself).
Just sent this in about 10 days ago.
<< <i>I actually own 14 pieces of 1964D Rev C. The 2 PCGS pieces, 7 pieces that I had graded by ICG (big mistake, they overgraded them) and 5 raw AU pieces. Don't know if its worth slabbing the AU pieces.... >>
harvey, thats quite a few!!! I've had 9 in my posession at one time or another (sold a few to some very personable, kind forum members....yeah, doing a little butt smooching..lol...but nonetheless, they are good people!). One, that was housed in a NEWER ANACS holder as MS63 (another was in a newer 64 holder, and a few AU's). I sent in a few for crossing over. That SOB'in' MS63 in the newer holder went to our hosts, and came back an AU58. Sold it for a fair 58 price to a fellow member, cracked it for him, shipped it to him. HE sends it in, and it comes back MS63!!! The MS64, came back MS63...that one will get cracked and sent in raw. At one point, I owned an AU50, 53, 55, 58, and 2 63's, 2 64's. The AU's don't seem to be worth the grading/attribution fees...at THIS time. As for your statement on ICG, I fully agree, harvey....I found a number of unattributed Type B's, and I'll NEVER try to cross an ICG again....they usually get a 1 to 2 (mostly 2) point downgrades.
I still own (in PCGS plastic) 2 MS63's, 2 MS64's 5 '64-D Type C's (one of the MS64's SHOULD be in a 65 holder, comparing it to harveypb's MS65...no offense to harvey's example), and an unattributed MS65 from ATS that SHOULD cross. I picked it off from the same ebay seller I got my unattributed '56 MS66 that just crossed to our hosts plastic (a top-pop), but I'm not sure whether to send the '64-D in for crossover, or send it ATS for attribution....to lose a grade would be costly...even in a 65 holder from ATS, an attributed MS65 example should still hold close to most of it's value, when it's as 'clean' as this one is...but if you are playing the registry game, it's another story. I'm quite happy with the way things are now. Though, I could be happier, as there was another member (who shall remain nameless) that scooped up, rather quickly, an unattributed MS65 Type C that was on ebay...lasted about 15 minutes (exaggerating, but it went very quickly)...that one went for a very fair price. I'm not sure (no pun intended) if that got attributed yet.
I find it easier to cross (ONLY those in plastic from ATS) without attribution, then send back for reholder/attribution. I'm 3/4 in crossing at grade. I only do this with my freebies coupon, so, while it does cost a few extra bucks out of pocket overall, for the reholder/attribution, I feel they aren't overly scrutinized for attribution when sent in for crossover AND attribution at the same time. I've been able to make 3 top-pops that way (a '56, '58 and '60)..if they went for attribution/grading, the results could have been very different...but the coins ARE graded accurately. As discussed with another forum member, they should be cracked and sent in raw...his reasoning was very sound...let them be graded without any referrence point as to what someone else thought the grade was.
Very recently, on the 'bay, a seller, who definitely had to have NO idea they were scarce varieties, had both, a '60 and '61 Type B in MS65, both unattributed. The '61 fetched a good price, the '60, not so great.
To relics...that is a nice coin....though if it doesn't garner an MS66, which is the top grade for a '60.....there are a bunch of them in MS65. Stil, it's a 'handsome' coin, regardless of what it comes back with. I'd say more, but it's off to class. Perhaps more later.
<< <i>I found all of my circ 1964D Rev C pieces in large lots of bulk silver quarters. The one that graded PCGS MS65 I found in a dealer's showcase a few years ago unattributed for $3.00 >>
Well, it's customary around here to give a 'you suck' when things like that happen, harveypb (don't know if you know that, where you just joined....but you sure have alot of knowledge on these varieties for a newbie..
YOU SUCK!!!!
Nice rip, I must say!!! Now get those bad boys attributed, will ya?????
<< <i>Here's a nice toned 1957 Rev B. Its in a NGC MS67 holder. >>
