anybody else read this about new dollar coin mintages?

If this is true then they should be a bit lower than the rest and if they stay true to the 20% for the Native American dollar then those should be a coin to get.

can someone put this in a hyper link for me please, silly me don't know how.

The 20% figure is of the total dollar production for the year, so if they do approx. 1.68 million of eachof the four Presidents they will do approx. 1.68 million of the Native American dollars as well.

Not counting the coins in the Mint Sets.

Oh Crap! Here we go again.

Given those low production figures, I expect a brisk after market on these which means I'll have to resume buying them again.

    Dang!

  • My understanding from a previos thread, was that the mintage would drop significantly. However, the mint was going to continue to mint plenty to cover collector demand with the deeper struck mint sets, that end up in PCGS bunting labels. I have a feeling that even though the total mintage will be down, the coins in higher grades will be more plentiful than ever. I may be wrong, but I think searching through rolls will not pay of as well as it has in the past.

Demand among collectors is getting strong. A call from John yesterday confirmed this. He told me he is unable to get rolls of prezzie bucks at his bank and asked if I could get him four rolls of each president , going forward with Chester. When it became clear he didn't care about the mint mark, his voice waivered a bit when I told him the Denver or Philadelphia rolls would be over fifty dollars each.

He wanted to know why the cost of a dollar is going to two dollars plus shipping plus sales tax.

What would you tell a guy ? He said he went to the mint website, but I don't think he wants to give BIG BROTHER his information. I wanted to inform him that it's much too late. He called me. And I AM big brother. I knew because he was crying on my shoulder image
  • I find solace in that the PrexiBux collection folders are broken down in two convenient volumes. Book One is 2007-2011 and Book Two is 2012-2016 (and beyond?) So, if you want to continue collecting them, then get Book Two, if not, then you are done!

I would wait until 2014 to start loading up. This year will see a surge in purchases from the Mint, but even with the limited mintage output, people will be worn out with the non-performance of these within a couple of years.

Then, mintages will be pushed even lower. Put a reminder in your browser. It'll be ok.image

ell, it certainly has a limited audience as far as I'm concerned and only true collectors will have any interest. It will definitely become an expensive venture until those pesky rag bucks can be eliminated since for a solitray collector to get a single coin will require an outlay $39.95 plus shipping.

The FDI program will die after 2011 and folks that have heavily invested in those coins will have to acquire some good solid bath towels! This includes me which just makes me sick for being so stupid!

I wonder if the Position A and B stuff will continue?

    ON THE OTHER HAND:

"IF" the paper dollar goes away then these coins will get produced, once again, by the millions AND they'll be used on a daily basis. Interest will get renewed and the low mintage coins will literally jump in price over the long haul. Especially if few folks pick them up.

It sound like a possible long term investment strategy that might be relatively inexpensive to get in to and the indicator will be what the US Mint does with the excess at the beginning of 2013. Continue to sell until they are sold out or destroy.

But then, I'm probably just dreaming again..........
